Coming Up This Week: April 8th

This week marks the first week on my new shift at the station.

I now work a NORMAL PERSON’S SHIFT!

I’ve also gotten a chance to work with some fantastic reporters on some great stories. I still get to work with my favorite reporter, so that’s good news, too! I spent one whole day at the Oklahoma state capitol following around a sweet family seeking to reform daycare laws in the state…IMG_2409

I spent an afternoon with a very talented painter who helped the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s department by painting a “sketch” of a deceased female found in a ditch a week ago…

…And I have toured an area in the eastern part of state (near Tulsa) where the year’s first tornado occurred. It has been a busy, yet reinvigorating, week.

So bye-bye weird 2pm to 11 pm shift. It’s been swell. Hello, 9:30am to 6pm shift!

Another positive to this shift: I get to blog more!

I know you’re so excited about that.

So to kick off my new blogging prowess, I’ve decided to do teases for the upcoming week. A “tease” is what we in the TV news industry call a preview of an upcoming story; a short snippet to catch your attention and make you stay tuned for the next segment.

Here’s what you can expect me to shake and bake in the next few days:

  • Mini Corndog Muffins
  • Asparagus Tarts
  • Jerk Chicken Casserole
  • Harvest Nut Muffins
  • Lemon Cheesecake Bars
  • Chicken & Pea Bowties

All of these recipes look like they could be wonderful, so I’m excited to start making them! I’m especially looking forward to both the muffin recipes: the Mini Corndog Muffins and the Harvest Nut Muffins. Yum.

I’m also going to make it a point to go to the farmer’s market either this weekend or next weekend, so expect to see some spontaneous recipes pop up depending on what I find there! OKC is lucky to have such a great farmer’s market. It’s set up on the city’s Oklahoma State University Extension campus and it’s indoors and year-round. It’s a fantastic place to find fresh veggies, fruits, herbs, orchids, meats, eggs, milk and cheeses! Belle Kitchen even has a spot reserved and they make the BEST macaroons and donuts in the world.

Lateroni!
