Pizza Sausage Balls

One of my most favorite snacks in the world is sausage balls.

A friend of mine used to make them for parties when we were in high school and I fell in love with them. They’re so easy to make and require only 3 ingredients: sausage, cheese and Bisquick.

I wanted to make sausage balls for Christmas Eve but stumbled upon a pizza version that looked fantastic. I’m so glad I decided to branch out and give them a shot–they might be better than the original!

Don’t be surprised if your pizza balls get a little crispy on the bottom and around the edges, that’s what adds to the flavor. They’re not burned, I swear! The cheese can ooze out from the bottom and cook faster than the sausage. It all tastes incredible in the end.

Feel free to add other ingredients (diced bell pepper and mushrooms sound really good!) but don’t leave out the Italian sausage and mozzarella.
